In Person Mix Retreat Sample Schedule

Lee Fields

Day 1:

9:00 am: Arrive at the house. I’ll have some donuts and coffee ready for breakfast.

9:15 am: We’ll start in the studio. We’ll spend about 2hrs on each person’s tracks. I’ll go first with some of my tracks. We’re using ProTools. I’ve set up session to mimic a FOH console. It’ll be very simply laid out with some physical faders. When it’s your time, I’ll spend some time mixing your tracks from scratch. You’ll get to see how I would mix your band on a live console. After that, you’ll jump on the rig and you can try some of the things we discovered or use this time as you want. I’ll have the sessions built with the same processing you’d find on a live console. I do have a full Waves license if you want to use plugins as you would live. Don't worry about trying to make a perfect mix. The idea here is to discover some new ways to improve your mix at home. Most advanced mixers grab a couple things they hadn’t thought of before and take that back. We’ll all be learning from each other. This is highly collaborative. I’ve got trackpads, mice, and trackballs to choose from. The monitors are Barefoot Footprint 01’s. The room has loads of low end so you can really get a “live” feel out of it.

12:00pm: Lunch at local Thai/asian spot.

1:30 ish: We’ll head back to the house and mix a bit more.

3:00pm ish. We’ll head out into town for some hang time. I’ve got a big SUV and we can all ride together from my house. I’ve got some actives planned for this window each day. Just wear comfortable clothes. Activies could include Top Golf, Escape Rooms, adult cart racing, etc.

6pm Dinner.  I’ll have dinner reservations for a spot in town.

8pm we’ll wrap up back at the house and you’re day 1 is complete.

Day 2: will be the same daily schedule. Except for lunch.

12:00pm: Lunch-IMPORTANT. We’ll load up on my golf cart and head to the golf course clubhouse for lunch. Lunch and drinks are included. It’s a 4-seater so we’ll need to take one car. It’s only a quarter mile from my house.  You can leave anything you need at the house if you want. We’ll return to the house after lunch. The golf course has a DRESS CODE. It’s pretty simple, just no tee shirts or workout clothes. Shorts or pants are fine. The easiest way to make the dress code work in the fall is a jacket, clean hoodie, or pullover. If you dont wear that, the shirt just needs to have a hem and it can be untucked. If you were jeans and a polo you just need to tuck the shirt in while inside the building. If you have any questions about this let me know. You can change shirts at my house before you go if you need.
